Lime Plastering

Traditional Lime Plastering & Heritage Restoration

Period properties require a specialist touch that modern materials simply cannot provide. At Intex Finishes Ltd, we are experts in the application of traditional lime mortars, ensuring that historic and listed buildings remain structurally sound, breathable, and aesthetically authentic.

Unlike modern gypsum or cement—which trap moisture and cause damp—lime allows your building to "breathe," moving naturally with the structure and managing moisture levels as originally intended.

Our Heritage Services:

Internal Lime Plastering: Hand-applied 2 and 3-coat systems (Harsh, Sand, and Lime) over masonry or traditional timber lath.

External Lime Rendering: Protective, breathable facades using Hydraulic (NHL) or Lime Putty mixes to protect stone and brickwork from the elements.

Lath & Plaster Restoration: Careful repair or full replacement of traditional timber lath ceilings and walls using authentic techniques.

Damp Remediation: Replacing "blown" cement-based renders with breathable lime to solve rising and penetrating damp issues in older homes.

Preserving the Past with Precision

Working with lime is a craft that requires patience and deep material knowledge. We respect the heritage of every project, using only the finest natural materials to match existing textures and finishes. Whether it is a Grade II listed cottage or a significant historic landmark, our team ensures your property is preserved for future generations using the methods that have stood the test of time.
